Extra Curricular Activities
We may be a small school, but we think big. Our children have the opportunity to take part in a very broad range of activities throughout the school year. A taste of the opportunities on offer are provided below.
Sport
We are proud to participate in a wide range of inter-school sports events and matches throughout the year from football to archery, hockey to swimming. As well as matches we also offer after-school sports clubs to all pupils to give everyone a change to participate and enjoy different sports.
Music
The school is a partner of the county's music scheme, Make Music Gloucestershire. As part of this provision, the school pays for each class to receive ten hours of specialist music provision each year. Children in Reception and Years 1 to 3 learn to play samba and percussion instruments, whilst children in Years 4 to 6 learn the cornet. At the end of their ten sessions, younger children perform to parents in school, whilst older children take part in a music festival at Cheltenham Town Hall.
In addition to class music lessons, children have the opportunity to learn to play an instrument. Small group lessons are within the school day in our music room. Our musicians enjoy performing and we love hearing them in special assemblies.
Wildlife Club
We are extremely proud of our record in the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust School Quiz. Last year we were delighted to be North Cotswolds Champions and Gloucestershire runners-up. As well as Forest School, there is an after school Wildlife Club where children can learn more about our local wildlife through hands-on learning thanks to our location on the edge of the beautiful National Trust Forest.
