Executive Headteacher

I have worked in small and medium‑sized schools across Gloucestershire since 1997 and currently serve as Executive Headteacher. Although I no longer have a regular teaching commitment, spending time with children remains the most rewarding aspect of my role and sits firmly at the heart of everything I do. I am excited to be joining the team at Sherborne, bringing with me a strong belief in inclusive, child‑centred education and the power of collaborative leadership..

Outside of school, I am Mum to three young men and love nothing more than long walks with my husband, our dog, and whichever sons may be persuaded to join us.

Since leaving secondary school, I have always been passionate about childcare and working with young children. Their curiosity, enthusiasm for learning, and unique perspective on the world are truly inspiring. After completing a BTEC National Diploma in Childhood Studies, I worked in nurseries, ran a preschool, and childminded while raising my own children. In 2022, I completed a degree in Childhood Studies and Youth through the Open University.

After moving from Sussex to the Cotswolds in 2021, I was ready for a new challenge and was delighted to join Sherborne as a Teaching Assistant. I am passionate about helping children feel happy, safe, and confident at school, encouraging them to enjoy learning, discover their strengths, and reach their full potential.

I have been teaching for over 20 years, I took a few years out to care for my dad. I returned to schools in a 1:1 HLTA capacity and now teach part time. I love the variety a school day brings and the wide range of activities the children get to experience. I love animals and the outdoors. I enjoy walking, though am not a fan of hills! I can spend hours looking for fossils, sea glass and a good pebble. I will always stop to watch a rainbow or try to spot a shooting star.

I finished my education journey in 2002 at Oxford college, completing an NVQ in Performing Arts. Having always loved musical theatre and singing, I dreamt of being on the stage from a young age.

However the start of my adult working career path started a little differently to that of my younger selfs dream. Which was to be in a nursery setting for 2 years before I moved into the Health and Social sector, where I took on various roles over 16 years within the NHS and care services, working with young adults.

When my youngest daughter started school, I took a leap back into childcare and the education world. I spent time gaining new knowledge, skills and experiences within a foundation stage unit, which included leading Forest school. I throughallly enjoyed my time supporting children to learn through all aspects, especially phonics.

Fast forward 6 years and I have joined Sherborne, I can honestly say that I feel so lucky to be part of the school community and I enjoy each day as much as the day before.

In my free time I love to listen to music, gardening, spending time in our allotment, and I especially look forward to my summer holiday. When myself, my husband and 2 daughters can go beach combing for treasures.

Mrs Flora Ellis

I started teaching in 2009, after bringing up my two children and working as a volunteer in their school. I saw how important education was and how much they valued learning. Before teaching I ran a fair trade shop and worked as a freelance printmaker as well as other various jobs including a fascinating placement at The Natural History Museum. At home, I like to play the guitar, go for walks and collect curious books.

I have an honours degree in Fine Art and NPQ in Leading Teacher Development as well as postgraduate certificates in Education, Humanities (history) and Professional Studies. I am a primary mathematics specialist teacher (MaST) and was a Gloucestershire Educational Leader of Mathematics for the LA, for ten years. I have written and led five successive Erasmus+ projects involving fifteen schools across Europe in total, and firmly encourage school European partnerships.

I am tremendously enthusiastic about the entire curriculum, enjoying running around a wintery playing field as much as experimenting in science or writing poetry. My class might wonder how I get so interested in rocks and numbers, but a fascination in the world is what keeps me enthusiastic and this fascination and the desire to learn more, is what I aim to pass on to my class.

I currently teach in Owl Class (Years 4, 5 & 6) and am the school’s DDSL.

After a successful 20-year career in retail, I made the decision in 2018 to retrain as a teacher. This choice was inspired by watching the joy of learning that skilled and dedicated educators nurtured in our first child. Seeing the impact that high-quality teaching can have on a child’s confidence, curiosity and development motivated me to pursue a career where I could make a similar difference.

I completed my teacher training in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school, an experience that shaped my passion for inclusive education. Since then, I have remained committed to ensuring that all children, particularly those with additional needs, have access to the right support, resources and opportunities to achieve their full potential. I continually strive to adapt my teaching to meet the diverse needs of every learner and to help them make meaningful progress alongside their peers.

Since joining Sherborne in 2022, I have been proud to work alongside a dedicated and caring staff team who share a strong commitment to enabling every child to flourish academically, socially and emotionally within our inspiring school environment. In September 2025, I took on the role of SENCo and am currently working towards completing the NPQSENCO qualification, due to be completed in October 2026.

I have also completed the Mental Health Champion qualification and support the wellbeing of pupils and staff across the school. Additionally, I undertook two years of Mastering Number training through NCETM (2023–2025), further strengthening my approach to teaching mathematics.

I am passionate about sharing my love of reading and physical activities with the children and take great pride in supporting each child in my class to grow in confidence, develop a love of learning, and reach their full potential.

Miss Amber Fletcher

Ever since leaving secondary school, I have always had an interest in childcare and education. I spent two years completing an Early Years Level 3 course which allowed me to learn more about the Early Years Foundation Stage and early childhood development. I then undertook my degree in Education at the University of Gloucestershire. This allowed me to explore the role, impact and background of education. During my degree, I was fortunate to undertake a placement in a forest school. I then continued my studies by carrying out a PGCE. Since then I have taught in a variety of schools and year groups across the county. I am a very creative person and I enjoy bringing this into my teaching. I have recently completed an NPQ in Early Years Teaching which has developed my teaching further. I am passionate about music, art, phonics and outdoor learning.

From an early age, I always wanted to work with children. After completing my A-Levels, I studied for an honours degree in Early Childhood Studies and graduated at Oxford Brookes University. Whilst studying, I undertook a three-year placement at a primary school in Gloucestershire and, after graduating, worked at a primary school in Oxfordshire. I am passionate in helping children with their learning so they can reach their full potential. In my spare time, I particularly enjoy foreign travel, photography, musical theatre, baking and long country walks.
